Oil Prices Reverse Gains As US-Vietnam Trade Deal Raises Hope For More Such Deal Before July 9
Oil prices reversed gains as the US-Vietnam trade deal boosted optimism for more such deals before the tariff deadline July 9 draws closer.
Brent crude was trading 0.78% down at $68.57 a barrel as of 7:34 a.m. The prices settled at 2.98% higher at $69.11 a barrel.
Asia Market Update: Markets In Vietnam Advances As Trump Announces Trade Deal
Markets in Vietnam was trading higher as the US President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with Vietnam. The US will impose 20% import duty on goods from Vietnam while the South-Asian country will impose 0% tariff on US goods.
Ho Chi Minh index was trading 0.49% higher as of 7:27 a.m.
In rest of the Asia-Pacific, markets were trading on a mixed note as traders await US jobs report for more clarity on the labour market of the world’s largest economy.
US Market Update: US Futures Trade Slightly Higher
US Futures were trading slightly higher as expectation of a rate cut increased, while traders await more detail on US and Vietnam trade deal. Private jobs data showed that number of private jobs in the US declined against an expectation of a rise.
The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were trading 0.04% and 0.03% higher, respectively. The Nasdaq 100 future was trading 0.06% higher as of 7:21 a.m.
GIFT Nifty Implies Tepid Open; Nykaa, DMart, Hindustan Zinc Shares In Focus
The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.04% or 9.50 points higher at 25,566.00 as of 6:51 a.m., which implied a flat start for the Nifty 50 with a positive bias.
FSN E-Commerce Ventures Ltd., Avenue Supermarts Ltd., Hindustan Zinc Ltd., Baazar Style Retail Ltd., and Punjab National Bank share prices in focus.
Indian benchmark equity indices closed lower on Wednesday, dragged by share prices of HDFC Bank Ltd. and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 88 points or 0.35% lower at 25,453.40, while the BSE Sensex closed 287.60 points or 0.34% down at 83,409.69.
