Synopsis:
Basilic Fly Studio Limited (BFS) has secured a ₹29.71 crore (GBP 2.5 million) order from Netflix for high-complexity VFX work on an upcoming premium project. The project will be executed through BFS’s global network of 800+ artists across Chennai, Pune, London, Paris, and Vancouver.

The shares of the Small-cap post-production company, which specializes in providing visual effects (VFX) solutions for movies, television shows, web series, and commercials, jumped upto 2 percent upon receiving a work order from Netflix for high-complexity VFX work.

With a market capitalization of Rs. 1,066.72 Crores on Wednesday, the shares of Basilic Fly Studio Limited jumped by upto 2.1, making a high of Rs. 472.00 compared to its previous closing price of Rs. 462.15.

Basilic Fly Studio Limited, engaged in providing visual effects (VFX) solutions for movies, television shows, web series, and commercials, has secured a ₹29.71 crore (GBP 2.5 million) order from Netflix to deliver high-complexity VFX work for an upcoming premium project. 

This order further strengthens BFS’s growing global partnerships, following a successful Q1 FY26 in which the company won ₹150 crore worth of new orders from clients like Netflix, Disney, and HBO. The VFX work will be executed through BFS’s global network of over 800 artists, utilizing its cost-efficient hubs in Chennai and Pune, alongside creative talent based in London, Paris, and Vancouver, and this win consolidates BFS’s position as a leading player in the VFX industry.

The new win aligns with BFS’s Vision 2026 strategy, which focuses on expanding delivery capacity, establishing AI-driven production workflows, and scaling across geographies, including India, North America, and Europe

Financials & Others

The company’s revenue rose by 347 percent from Rs.  51 crore to Rs. 228 crore in H2FY24-25. Meanwhile, the Net profit rose from  Rs. 18 crore to  Rs. 33 crore during the same period.

The company has a low debt-to-equity ratio of 0.25, indicating strong financial stability. It has delivered impressive performance with an average return on equity (ROE) of 67.97% and return on capital employed (ROCE) of 75.23% over the past three years. Additionally, the company has achieved a robust 61.35% revenue growth and an exceptional 257.26% net profit growth during the same period.

Basilic Fly Studio, founded in 2013 in Chennai, has grown into a global VFX powerhouse, offering end-to-end solutions such as paint, rotoscopy, animation, simulation, lighting, rendering, and compositing. The two studios merged in July 2024. With over 11,300 projects, including web series, commercials, and movies, and 390+ clients, Basilic continues to expand its reach in the VFX industry.

India’s VFX industry is expected to recover with a 13% CAGR from 2024 to 2027, reaching ₹147 billion by 2027. This growth will contribute 8% to the total Media & Entertainment sector growth during the period.
