In the recent Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted strengthening electricity distribution and transmission. The government will incentivize states to improve intrastate transmission capacity and distribution networks. These reforms will support the financial health and operational efficiency of power companies. To support states in implementing these changes, the government will allow an additional borrowing of 0.5 percent of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), based on their progress. As these reforms take shape, the Indian Power stocks especially in the power and energy sectors, are expected to benefit from these initiatives.

NTPC

This Maharatna PSU is India’s largest power generation company which is primarily focused on thermal and renewable energy. It operates across the entire energy value chain, from power generation to transmission, they have NTPC Green, focused on renewable energy, and holds diversified energy production.
