Andhra Pradesh has signed a memorandum of understanding with global tech major NVIDIA to build the nation’s first AI university in the state, emphasising commitment to foster an inclusive AI ecosystem. The announcement was made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and the initiative is being led by IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
As part of the partnership, NVIDIA will support curriculum development and training. Over the next two years, 10,000 engineering students across the state will receive AI skill training. In addition, 500 AI startups from Andhra Pradesh will gain access to NVIDIA’s Inception Program, which provides global exposure and key resources.
NVIDIA will contribute to infrastructure and research capabilities in setting up the AI university. Naidu said the initiative spans education, skilling, research, and innovation, and is aimed at laying the foundation for a “Swarna Andhra Pradesh.”
In recent developments, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services had also partnered to develop India’s largest quantum computer in Andhra Pradesh’s Quantum Valley Tech Park, currently being built in the capital city of Amaravati. TCS will support the development of algorithms and applications.
“We are excited about our plans with the state of Andhra Pradesh to deploy our latest IBM Quantum System Two at the Quantum Valley Tech Park,” said Jay Gambetta, vice president of IBM Quantum. “Our collaboration with TCS will help attract the country’s thriving ecosystem of developers, scientists, and industry experts to develop algorithms and applications.”
