During Monday’s trading session, shares of a major player in the engineering and manufacturing sectors surged around 10 percent from the day’s low on BSE, after the company announced the availability of advanced copper conductors for high-power transformers.

With a market cap of Rs. 2,474.3 crores, shares of Hind Rectifiers Limited closed at Rs. 1,439.9 on BSE, compared to its previous closing price of Rs. 1,485.8. The stock has delivered positive returns of around 43 percent in one year, and has gained by over 1 percent in the last one month.

What’s the News:

As per the latest disclosures with the stock exchanges, Hind Rectifiers Limited announce the commercial availability of its new, high-performance copper products, including Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC), and Enamelled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC). These high-performance copper conductors will be exported globally for high-power transformers and other wound components.

Manufactured at the company’s newly inaugurated state-of-the-art copper processing plant in Sinnar (Nashik), these advanced conductors are engineered specifically to meet the rigorous demands of transformers, traction motors, and other high-power wound components.

These conductors will support key infrastructure segments, including power grids, railway rolling stock and catenary power supply systems, and industrial power networks. This development is aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in the transformer supply chain while expanding its footprint in international markets.

Hind Rectifiers has equipped its new production lines with advanced capabilities, offering high flexibility in conductor dimensions as well as insulation configurations.

For Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), the facility supports a wide range of configurations, handling between 5 to 63 strands per conductor. The strand dimensions are highly customizable, with widths ranging from 2.5 mm to 12 mm and thicknesses between 1 mm and 5 mm, along with adjustable transposition pitches from 25 mm to 200 mm, making them suitable for high-efficiency transformer applications.

In the case of Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC) and Enamelled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC), the production lines can accommodate copper widths of up to 20 mm and thicknesses up to 8 mm, enabling broader application coverage.

Additionally, the facility features advanced insulation capabilities, with enamelling lines capable of applying multiple types of coatings tailored to different thermal and electrical requirements. The machinery allows for precise insulation layering, with up to 32 layers for CTC and up to 8 layers for PICC in a single pass, while maintaining tight control over insulation thickness in the range of 0.25 mm to 5 mm.

The Sinnar facility is ISO-certified and supported by a comprehensive in-house testing infrastructure, including dielectric dissipation (Tan Delta), high voltage breakdown, interstrand shorts, proof stress – covering all key tests related to CTC, PICC and enamelled PICC, ensuring adherence to global quality standards.
