India defeated the West Indies in the second and final Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to complete a 2-0 series sweep. It was a comprehensive performance from the home team as they successfully chased down 121 runs with seven wickets in hand on the final day of the match.

KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 55 and finished the series with 196 runs at an impressive average of 98 in four innings. Here are the award winners and their respective prize money:

Player of the Series (₹2.5 lakh): Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was named Player of the Series for his outstanding all-round performance with both bat and ball. The left-hander scored 104 runs in the only innings he batted and also picked up eight wickets, showcasing his immense value in the longest format of the game.

Jadeja said after winning the award

“I got the chance to bowl more overs after Ashwin’s retirement. Overall, we’ve been doing wonderful work as a team, both in batting and bowling. We know what brand of cricket we’ve been playing over the last five to six months, and that’s a good sign.

As Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said, I’m batting at number six now, so I think more like a proper batsman and that helps. Earlier, when I batted at number eight or nine, my mindset was different. Now, I just try to spend more time in the middle whenever I get a chance.

Honestly, I don’t think much about records. I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win. If I don’t perform in both departments, it doesn’t reflect my value as a player. I always give my 100 percent. This is my third Man of the Series trophy, and I’m very happy to take it home.”

Other Awards

  • Man of the Match (₹1 lakh): Kuldeep Yadav
  • Great Striker of the Match (₹1 lakh): Yashasvi Jaiswal
  • Best Catch of the Match (₹1 lakh): Sai Sudharsan
  • Best West Indies Player (₹1 lakh): Shai Hope
  • Longest Six of the Match (₹1 lakh): Nitish Kumar Redd

Kuldeep said after receiving the award

“This wicket was completely different compared to the first Test. Bowling a lot of overs was the challenge here, and I really enjoyed it. The drift I got in Ahmedabad wasn’t there this time the wicket was much drier.

Playing two back-to-back Tests is always fun. Bowling long spells and getting crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs is something I enjoy a lot. When you put a lot of revolutions on the ball and generate arm speed, you can get that extra drift. I enjoyed a couple of wickets in both Tests.

I’ll be watching a few football games now, but we hardly get time we have to fly tomorrow, and there’s another game on the 19th. It’s lovely to have Jadeja around; he’s always guided me in tough situations and his advice helps me a lot.”
