The India Meteorological Department has flagged a significant uptick in rainfall activity starting June 10, with isolated heavy downpours expected over South Peninsular India, the west coast, and northeastern states. From June 13 onwards, Karnataka and Kerala are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to the departments latest press release.
At the same time, extreme heat is set to grip parts of the country. Severe heatwave conditions are forecast over western Rajasthan between June 8 and 11, while heatwave conditions will persist across most of northwest India—except Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand—over the next four days.

June 11-14: Uttarakhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh are likely to face thunderstorms with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph.

Until June 12: Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience rainfall combined with strong winds. Interior Karnataka is also expected to see similar weather patterns.
