Synopsis: Container Corporation of India awards ₹175.36 crore turnkey order to Braithwaite & Co for nine BLSS Spine Car rakes, with monthly deliveries by February 2027 to boost rail freight capacity.

This railway company has placed a major order worth ₹175.36 crore with Braithwaite & Co Ltd. The state-owned logistics giant awarded the contract for manufacturing and supplying nine specialised railway rakes. This move signals Concor’s push to strengthen its rail freight capacity across India.

Container Corporation Of India Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 37,395 crores, rose to Rs. 498.80, up of 1.96 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 489.20. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a negative return of 12.2 percent.

Market participants view such capacity additions as a sign of long-term operational confidence. Fresh infrastructure spending often reassures investors about a company’s growth pipeline.

Braithwaite & Co, a domestic public sector firm, will manufacture nine BLSS Spine Car rakes. These are specialised wagons used to carry containers on rail networks. The order is awarded on a turnkey basis, meaning Braithwaite handles the entire production process. Concor will receive ready-to-use rakes directly upon delivery.

The order value stands at ₹175.36 crore. Concor disclosed this under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s listing obligations framework. This ensures full transparency to stock exchange investors.

Braithwaite must complete all supplies by February 28, 2027. Furthermore, the company must deliver a minimum of two rakes every month. This steady delivery schedule ensures Concor can plan operations without disruption. Therefore, the phased approach reduces supply risk for the logistics company.

Concor operates India’s largest rail-based container logistics network. Adding new spine car rakes directly boosts its cargo-handling capacity. As a result, the company can serve more customers across key trade corridors. Meanwhile, using a domestic supplier like Braithwaite also supports India’s self-reliance push in rail manufacturing.

BLSS Spine Cars are built specifically for intermodal freight movement. They allow containers to be moved efficiently between ships, trucks, and trains. Consequently, this upgrade improves turnaround time and cuts logistics costs for businesses.

Concor continues to invest in modernising its fleet. With deliveries scheduled over the coming months, the company looks well-positioned to meet growing freight demand across India’s expanding economy.
