Aster DM Healthcare has expanded its women and children’s facility at Aster Whitefield Hospital in Bengaluru. The company invested Rs. 96 crore to grow the hospital’s bed capacity. It now rises from 380 to 539 beds a major step in the city’s private healthcare landscape.

Aster DM Healthcare‘s Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 34,675 crores, fell to Rs. 663.55, low of 2.6 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 681.80. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a return of 36 percent.

The new 159-bed Aster Women & Children unit opened its doors this week. It covers care from the preconception stage all the way to childbirth. Additionally, families will find services like water birthing, foetal medicine and surgery, and advanced laparoscopic gynaecology all under one roof.

The unit also houses a Level 3A NICU, a fertility centre, a child development centre, and a paediatric intensive care unit. Parents with critically ill newborns will have access to neonatal and paediatric surgical services as well.

Karnataka Health Minister Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurated the expanded facility. Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Shri U.T. Khader was also present at the event. Furthermore, Union MP Shri P.C. Mohan and Medical Education Minister Shri Sharanprakash R. Patil attended the ceremony.

The Whitefield expansion is part of a broader push by Aster across Bengaluru. The company plans to open a 500-bed hospital in Yeshwantpur and a 430-bed facility in Sarjapur. Together, these projects will bring Aster’s total bed count in Karnataka to 2,573.

As a result, Aster expects to rank among the top three private healthcare providers in the state. The expansion builds on the hospital’s 12-year presence in Bengaluru.

Aster DM Healthcare currently operates 20 hospitals with 5,451 beds across five Indian states. It also runs 10 clinics, 203 pharmacies, and 302 labs and patient experience centres. The company’s network spans primary to quaternary levels of care.

Dr Moopen said scaling capacity is essential as demand for high-quality maternal and paediatric care continues to grow. He added that the Whitefield project sets new benchmarks for specialised care in the region.
