Apple has officially launched its Apple Intelligence suite in India. The company rolled out the update on March 31. With the release of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4, the new features are designed to improve user experience across productivity, creativity and privacy.

This expansion introduces a range of tools to improve how users in India interact with their Apple devices. It also includes the addition of more languages, such as “localised English for Singapore and India, as well as French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (simplified),” said Apple in a news release.

Among the major features in the update is the advanced Writing Tools functionality. “Writing Tools allow users to refine their language by rewriting, proofreading and summarising text virtually everywhere they write, including Mail, Messages, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps,” said Apple.

Apart from Writing Tools, users can fine-tune their edits using the ‘Describe Your Change’ feature. This option lets users improve their writing style — whether by adding dynamic action words to a resume or transforming a dinner party invitation into a poetic verse.

The Photos app is now smarter with new features that make searching and editing easier. With natural language search, users can just describe what they’re looking for and find matching photos and videos instantly. It even pinpoints moments within videos, letting users jump straight to a specific scene.

For those times when an unwanted object or person appears in a photo, the Clean Up tool helps remove distractions while keeping the image natural.

The Memories feature now lets users create personalised movies by just typing a description.

With Image Playground, users can easily create unique images using themes, costumes, accessories and locations. They can also add text descriptions or generate images that resemble family and friends using their photo library.

Apple Intelligence also introduces Genmoji. Users can create unique emojis by typing a description, with multiple options to choose from. They can even generate Genmoji inspired by friends or family using photos from their library.

As part of this expanded rollout, Apple is also introducing the “Visual Intelligence” feature to users in India. This tool allows for real-time object recognition through the camera, enabling users to identify plants, translate text or create events from flyers. By just pointing their camera at an object, users can access relevant information instantly.

One of the most significant aspects of the Apple Intelligence rollout is its focus on user privacy. Apple Intelligence prioritises privacy with on-device processing for most tasks. For more complex requests, Private Cloud Compute uses secure servers while ensuring user data remains protected.
