India’s renewable energy sector has witnessed rapid growth, making the country fourth globally in installed capacity. As of June 2025, India’s renewable energy capacity reached 226.8GW, comprising 110.9GW of solar and 51.3GW of wind power, almost 49% of the nation’s total electricity capacity. India targets 500GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, accelerating its clean energy transition.

Here are the renewable energy stocks in which FII increased its stake in Q1FY26

1. Tata Power Company Ltd

The Tata Power Company Limited is an India-based integrated power company. The principal business of the Company is the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. The Company’s segments include Generation, Renewables, Transmission and Distribution, and Others.  

With a market capitalization of Rs 1.27 lakh crore, the shares were trading at Rs 398.90 per share, increasing around 0.87 percent as compared to the previous closing.

The foreign institutional investors of the company increased their stake by 0.67 percent, from 9.38 percent in Q4FY25 to 10.05 percent in June 2025. Additionally, 26.82 percent is owned by retail investors, 15.95 percent is held by domestic institutional investors, and 46.86 percent is owned by promoters.

2. NHPC

NHPC Limited is an India-based company that is primarily involved in the generation and sale of bulk power to various power utilities. The Company’s other business activities include project management/construction contracts/consultancy assignment services, and trading of power.  

With a market capitalization of Rs 84,850.41 crore, the shares were trading at Rs 84.47 per share, increasing around 1.20 percent as compared to the previous closing.

The foreign institutional investors of the company increased their stake by 0.5 percent, from 8.81 percent in Q4FY25 to 9.31 percent in June 2025. Additionally, 11.52 percent is owned by retail investors, 10.63 percent is held by domestic institutional investors, and 67.40 percent is owned by promoters.

3. ACME Solar Holdings Ltd

ACME Solar Holdings is a renewable energy company in India. The company’s project portfolio includes solar, wind, hybrid, firm, and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE). The company generates revenue by selling electricity to different purchasers, including central and state government entities.  

 With a market capitalization of Rs 17,937.83 crore, the shares were trading at Rs 296.45 per share, increasing around 10 percent as compared to the previous closing.

The foreign institutional investors of the company increased their stake by 1.02 percent, from 4.74 percent in Q4FY25 to 5.76 percent in June 2025. Additionally, 4.22 percent is owned by retail investors, 6.61 percent is held by domestic institutional investors, and 83.41 percent is owned by promoters.
