Synopsis: RailTel has been awarded a contract through the year 2028 with the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board in association with the Government of India to provide ancillary services related to security for police-recruitment examinations. It is worth Rs. 43.96 crores.
On April 13, the RailTel Corporation of India (Navratna PSU, under the Ministry of Railways) announced an order for ancillary security services for the recruitment process for the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. The contract will be performed until April 12, 2028, with a total value of Rs. 43.96 crores.
In addition to this contract, RailTel recently announced a cancellation of another order (Rs. 17.12 crores), from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, which was cancelled for administrative reasons. While the company did not specify the exact financial impact, the new UP Police win more than offsets this loss in terms of order book value.
RailTel continues to expand operations during a period of significant growth with limited margin pressure. For Q3 FY26, RailTel announced EBITDA growth of 18.99% YoY for a total of Rs. 913.45 crores. At the same time, there was a slight decline in net income to Rs. 62.40 crores (-4.07% YoY) due primarily to operational cost increases.
Market Reaction RailTel shares (RAILTEL) ended Monday, April 13, at Rs. 284.38, down 0.88%. The stock price remained stable despite the mixed financial results, as investors reacted positively to the steady intake of high-margin government service orders. The Indian markets remain closed today, April 14, in observance of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
