Pakistan won the first Test match against South Africa by 93 runs at Lahore, taking a 1–0 lead in the two-match series with an emphatic victory. Noman Ali’s outstanding bowling performance helped Pakistan secure their first Test win of the series.
Pak vs SA Test Highlights 2025:
Scores
- Pakistan: 378 (Imam-ul-Haq 93, Salman Agha 93, Senuran Muthusamy 6/117) & 167 (Babar Azam 42, Abdullah Shafique 41, Senuran Muthusamy 5/57)
- South Africa: 269 (Tony de Zorzi 104, Ryan Rickelton 71, Noman Ali 6/112) & 183 (Dewald Brevis 54, Ryan Rickelton 45, Shaheen Afridi 4/33)
It took only two sessions for Pakistan to claim the remaining eight wickets and seal a 1–0 lead in the two-Test series. The win gave Pakistan a full set of points on the WTC 2027 points table, placing them second overall.
Noman Ali’s brilliant 10-wicket haul across both innings was the cornerstone of Pakistan’s victory. South Africa had no answers to his spin and struggled to cope with his variations.
The Proteas began the fourth day at 51/2, but after a sudden batting collapse, a 73-run partnership between Rickelton and Dewald Brevis gave them brief hope. However, the stand wasn’t enough, as the rest of the lineup failed to contribute significantly.
The reigning WTC champions were caught off-guard in testing conditions. While they had their moments, Pakistan were the superior side throughout the game. Historically strong in such conditions, Pakistan stamped their authority against South Africa. The visitors will need to play spin much better if they are to challenge Pakistan in the second and final Test.
Brevis’ counter-attacking, run-a-ball 54 was thrilling to watch. He looked dangerous against Pakistan’s main spinner, Noman Ali, but the veteran had the last laugh, dismissing him with a ripper. After that, South Africa’s innings fell apart. Shaheen Afridi generated excellent reverse swing with the old ball, cleaning up the lower order in style.
Player of the Match: Noman Ali

Noman Ali was the standout performer, taking 10 wickets in the match, while from South Africa’s side, Muthusamy impressed with 11 wickets across the two innings.
