Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), one of the teams known for their explosive power hitters, were expected to dominate the 2025 season, with many believing they could even cross the 300-run mark. However, they failed to live up to fans’ expectations, unlike their impressive run in 2024.

Some of their big hitters struggled for runs, and with the 2026 mini-auction set to be held on November 15, SRH will be looking to rebuild a stronger and more balanced squad by releasing these three players.

3. Mohammed Shami

SRH will have to make a tough decision regarding Mohammed Shami before the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Bought for ₹10 crore last season, the experienced fast bowler endured one of his toughest campaigns, taking only six wickets in nine matches with an economy rate of 11.23. His rhythm deserted him, and his yorkers went missing. Shami’s dip in pace and form proved costly for the team. Releasing him could free up a significant sum of ₹10 crore.

2. Ishan Kishan

Another young aggressive Indian international player on this list is Ishan Kishan, one of SRH’s marquee signings last year. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) opener attracted multiple bids at the auction before SRH secured him, surprising many as the team already had two left-handed openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head.

With Heinrich Klaasen taking wicketkeeping duties, Kishan was pushed to No. 3, where he managed only 138 runs at an average of 26.60. Releasing him could give SRH an additional ₹11.25 crore for the mini-auction. In IPL 2025, Ishan Kishan played 14 matches and scored 354 runs.

1. Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar, who previously won two IPL titles with Mumbai Indians, got to play only one match for SRH last season, bowling just one over. The team instead showed faith in young spinners like Zeeshan Ansari and Harsha Dubey, whose combined price was just ₹60 lakh. With limited opportunities and better-performing youngsters around, SRH might part ways with Rahul Chahar before the auction.

How Did SRH Perform Last Season?

They finished sixth on the points table with six wins out of 14 matches. Though they ended in sixth place, SRH played some entertaining cricket  including a memorable game against PBKS, where they successfully chased the highest total in IPL history.
